Making Movies with Wuz Good

So still playing catch up. At the end of the “I Am That Man” project, I was getting ready to fly back to the east coast from Director Wesley “Wuz Good” Armstrong asking if I wanted to AD a short. I was like “when is it because I fly out on Thursday”. Wes was like cool, “we shoot on Wednesday.

So a little bit of history between Wuz Good and I. We went to Full Sail together and between the photo shoots, music videos and commercials, we worked on at least 50 projects together. After that run of projects, I set my eyes on feature films and Good turned his eye on the internet. While Wuz Good was killing the game on Vine and Instagram he always said the goal was to make movies and the opportunity presented itself to do a short and here is what we did.

The short is called “Ding Dong Ditch” Staring Sunny Mabrey, Brandi Marie King, Joey Diggs Jr.  & Wes “Wuz Good” Armstrong produced by Off The Dock. The digital studio of Lakeshore Entertainment.

Shout out to the cast and crew of this project. We knocked this out in 1 day  and it turned out amazing!!

“Suicide For Beginners” Official Trailer

I’m back again with another update. This update came a little unexpected but happy that it is here. Working the independent film market, you tend to have wild stories because every situation is so different but also awesome because what I do really isn’t of the norm. But this film “Suicide For Beginners” formerly “Love Letter” has tons of stories but I’ll leave that to my book I just thought of writing when I retire and move to Costa Rica.

We shoot this lovely and odd but entertaining film back in 2013, in Wilmington, NC and it finally came too light in the form of a movie trailer and hopefully you all and myself get to see this film directed by Craig Thieman.

Special shout out to the cast and crew of this film. I made a couple of good friends from this shoot. It was shoot very close to my childhood home Jacksonville, NC and my mom got a chance to come to set a couple of days and see what I do for a living and she blessed the crew with some homemade cakes that they destroyed in world record time! LOL

Be blessed and #MakeMovies!

That’s a wrap on “Blood on Wheels”

So about a month ago (July) I got a call from Frederick (AD out of LA) and asked if I had a few weeks free in my calendar and I said yeah. He was booked and he got me in contact with one of his crews that he works with out of LA that was shooting a movie in Hamilton, OH. “I was like cool, let’s do it!”

The team I end up meeting in Ohio was Dark Rabbit Productions. This group is a good group of people and they shoot a ton of movies! Matter of fact they wrapped another shoot right before we started our project.

Melanie (Director), Eitan (DP) & Douglas (1st AD)

My director for this project was Melanie Aitkenhead. A USC grad and was really a joy to work with. Her energy was contagious to be around. As long as she was shooting, she was happy. And we shot a lot. This was my first feature where we shot with 2 cameras. We had 2 days that we had to cover 12 pages and those were some of our easier days. Another first for me were the fight scenes. But we had 2 good stunt coordinators that helped us get through those scenes.  Continue reading

Grandmother’s Murder Club is a dark comedy starring four grandmothers who accidentally kill a con man.  When the con man’s partner shows up, things go south quickly.  This film stars Florence Henderson, Pam Grier, Judge Reinhold, Randall Batnikoff, Susie Wall and Sally Eaton.

And the project is almost finished. We just need your help to finish this movie.

We are raising money for:

  • Music Licensing
  • Special Effects
  • Color Correction
  • Film Score Composition

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s a wrap on “Tonight She Comes”

So I just finished up my 3rd feature film in St. Louis, MO this year and I have to say I finished with a bang and a lot of blood. The film is starring Cameisha Cotton, Nathan Eswine, Adam Hartley Breiman, Jenna McDonald, Dal Pelate, Frankie Ray, Brock Russell & Larissa White and directed by Matt Stuertz.

This wasn’t Matt’s first feature film but this was his first feature film where he didn’t do everything by hisself. And I was very impressed with him as a director. He had a learning curve of not having to do everything and use me and the production team so he can just focus on the creative but he said he liked this process a lot better at the end of the day. He has a bright future in this film industry. Once you see this film you will see where I’m coming from.

This was a really fun and crazy project. First we scheduled this movie in 2 parts. On each side of Thanksgiving which was kind of interesting and gave me a break to recover and get back into the madness, then on top of that our actors schedules were all over the place but we found a way to finish this project. It was a lot of hard work but I’m sure it will pay off in the end. One of the good things about having a break in the middle of production is that our Director/Editor Matt, edited everything we shot on the first half of the project and the footage looks incredible.

IMG_6264The team behind this project is starting to become my extended family. I meet Chris, Jay, and the rest of the Lamplight Films crew when I was hired on to the “Grandmother’s Murder Club” project and 3 films later we have already made some plans to possible do more work together in 2016 already. Meeting these guys and girls in St. Louis is what I’ve been looking for since I stopped working with the Asylum crew that I started out with. They are a bunch of like-minded crazy creative individuals that love to make movies. I am really thankful for the chance to meet them and work with them.

Oh and let me give a special shout out to my production team who did a great job. It was Jenn’s first time as a Production Manager and she did a fantastic job. Katie was my 2nd AD for the project and she did great! As well as my PA Nation for the project. Alex, Mellissa and Ryan killed it. They all stepped up big and their hard work was and is appreciated.

Until next time, enjoy pictures and links below.  Don’t forget to smile and #MakeMovies!!!
